Innovation

2000 World Expo Germany
In the late 90's, Paul was developing plug-in-less map viewers*, crowd-sourced mapping apps, community portals and open data (Mozilla DMOZ). The "Drop a Postcard on a map" application was amazing but short lived.
Lessons learned:  unless you can speak the worlds languages, you have no way of filtering hate and inappropriate content.  Crowd-sourcing is great except when it's not.
*MapGuide Lite, SQL Server & Coldfusion

Atomic Parcel Model
This pragmatic parcel model was conceived from a brief discussion between Paul & Dave Horwood, Land Information System Architect with Esri Canada. By splitting parcels down to their most atomic elements, the Atomic Parcel Model leverages basic topology & scheduled dissolves to generate Lots, Concessions, Townships, Municipality, Plans, Zoning... everything :-) Editing was reduced by 40% and required absolutely NO specialized GIS skills. It's not Parcel Fabric, it's just easy, practical and it works.
